Watts 2.0 – Speed and Intensity. What do they do?

Last Updated : October 03 2023

Speed and Intensity are 2 features that help fine-tune your animations to get the exact look you are hoping for.

Both of these features can be used to change the look of your animations, and can also be used to adjust any of our pre-built presets to tune them to your liking.

Both of these features can be found in the Pattern screen near the bottom of the screen. On smaller screens, you can also press the arrow on the ride side to hide or show the panel that contains Speed, Intensity, Master Brightness, and the Save Preset buttons.

Speed

Speed is used to control how fast an animation moves on your lights. Moving the slider from left (slower) to right (faster) will change how fast each animation is moving or changing across the lights.

The Speed slider can dramatically change how an animation looks on your lights. Some animations can go pretty fast, so increasing that speed for parties, special events or even game days can really show off your home in a unique way.

Slowing down certain animations can make certain animations look very subtle and luxurious on the home, especially with animations like Blend or Wave.

Speed does not work on certain animations that have no motion or movement such as Blocks or Solid.

Intensity

Unlike Speed, Intensity is not as obvious of a change on the lights with all animations. Intensity is more commonly used on more unique animations such as Bouncing Balls or Fireworks.

For example, on Fireworks, this animation has a white light that moves along the house and randomly stops and "explodes" in both directions in a color pattern determined by your pattern selection. Increasing the intensity (moving it to the right), will adjust how widespread and robust the animation appears when it "explodes".

Summary

To summarize, the Speed and Intensity sliders are used with animations to change how fast the animations move or change on the lights, and to adjust how large, robust, or vivid other animations appear or act when moving along the lights.

Play around with them using various animations and see how you can change the look of your lights and house just by adjusting these two values.
